Dear Manatee Co. Sheriffs Dept and Citizens,
We are a gang called the SUR 13 and we mean business. We'll be stopping by your town tomorrow to see what vehicles we can steal so you all better stay out of our way or someone will get hurt.
Signed,
The Gang Members
Now really, why would anyone ask what were the cops thinking?
My guess is, they didn't know and when it happened, they did what they had to do but after a gun is fired and a bullet penetrates into someone, it's just a wee bit too late sometimes.
This isn't something that happens in B-town everyday!!

I do believe there were three murders in Bradenton since last friday; of course, that's not an "every day" thing...

Being that my above comment about "what were the cops thinking" was from over a year ago, don't you wonder what they're thinking now? They're thinking, "sh*t, we just finish up with convicting Stacey's case and now we have the Brooks/Rogers murder...gee what's in store for this weekend? Maybe when they're out doing the DUI checkpoints the BPD and MCSO should be wearing their SWAT uniforms as well, stop every freaking car after 11 p.m. going to or from Manatee into either Sarasota or Palmetto on 41. That sounds pretty ludacris doesn't it, but you'd be amazed at the guns & drugs going down the road. Yes, it happens everywhere, so that's the excuse? There seem to be no solutions as well.

Voicing your opinion on here she isn't making the laws change either.
Stopping every car after 11 p.m.? Is that the answer?
They kill during the daylight hours too.
Just ask Pamela Lerose's family what time this took place.
All I'm saying is, the authorities can only do so much.
They aren't God and they do have to watch their own and each others backs.

That is unconstitutional. The captain of the police force in Phoenix, Arizona wanted to do that only to find out he couldn't legally do it.

This forum is for voicing opinions, just thought I'd give some food for thought.

My View: It's not going away anytime soon!!
This isn't the first time that something like this as happened in Bradenton. Gang crime is becoming a big problem. It's still *somewhat* out on the east, but if you see gang graffiti, that means that it's in your area, even if minimal, it's there. Bradenton has gang graffiti signs literally EVERYWHERE!! Gangs are in Manatee County and Bradenton, FACT!! Sheriff Stubie has also admitted that and is doing what he can for Manatee County. I give him credit for putting some of the convicted gang members away, but that's not enough. We need more police officers on the streets of Bradenton to deter ANY crime, and it's not happening.
POLICE: Step up on your work! Your job is to protect, so protect! We don't need another Stacy Williams accident!!

Yes, it can mean anything. Including some kid got new sneakers!!
|
If I remember correctly, isn't the shoes over the power lines a sign of gangs? I remember this from me Orlando days. If so, then there are gangs in and around the Walmart store on Cortez. I've seen shoes on power lines right in front of the Walmart, and I don't think that kids go around throwing there shoes up on Cortez Road everyday!

A new thing they are doing in certain Middle Schools here in Manatee county is the "Amer-I-Can" program, I think related to gang kids. Anybody know anything about this program, is it successful?

I did my homework as I always do and God forbid if this is true!!
The beauty of the Amer-I-Can Program is that it is applicable to all people, as it transcends race, age, gender, religion, and socio-economic status. My belief is that teaching and sharing the program concepts related to self-esteem could significantly impact the problems our society faces today.
Can you imagine kids trying to better themselves could be labeled as something bad going on?
tsk, tsk, tsk
I do believe some people try to see things that aren't there!!
Like alll of the gang graffiti.
I drive these roads all the time and haven't seen any.
Is that something else I'll have to go looking for?

Here's a article about kids painting over Manatee County Graffiti. It's out there, I've seen it many times.
