I just scheduled my pest treatment for tomorrow. About $250 for the year. They also have a termite program with various prices about $700 - $1400 for 5 years to lifetime coverage. Do I need termite protection? Does this sound kind of expensive? Any info would be appreciated , thnx.

Termites are in the ground every where in Fl. There are do it yourself protection systems you can use for alot less money. Also if your home was built less than 5 yrs ago, the ground was treated at the time of construction. Usually no need to retreat before 5 yr mark. Check out the internet and you will find everything you need to know about termites. I personally think pest control companies try to use scare tactics to get you to buy more protection than you need.

Yes,that sounds way expensive! You can do it yourself for around $100 per year,or less, like I do! Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get the traps ($40-50) and gallon-size termite & carpenter- ant spray($25-30) to do perimeter of the house and your good for the year! Yes they are probably there in the ground around your house because they sprung the traps I put in within a few weeks, and I was shocked and somewhat alarmed that they were actually that close to my new house, but they were,so I bought the spray and applied that to the walls and ground near the base of the wall, and that seems to have stopped them in their tracks. Also all the framing in my house was treated for termites, when it was built.

I just paid $630 to have the soil poisoned around my foundation. They come back for 9 years at $175 each and retreat. Averages $220 over 10 years. I pay $100 here just for a yearly inspection, so it's not too different.

Hey Chris, you can stop spamming now. You have posted the same advertisement like 9 or 10 times on every board in SWFL!

Don't assume a new house's soil was treated. Builders have a choice; treat the soil or install a Sentricon system. Personally I prefer the bait stations; more environmentally friendly and it lures the termites to the stations and not your home. Most block homes have some wood frame exterior construction somewhere anyway- usually where you have a wall of sliding glass doors.
