Hello everyone,
This is my first post. My wife and I are looking at moving to Savannah in the Fall. She is a nurse and I am currently a pharmacy technician but I would like to go to school to be an X-ray Tech. I know that Armstrong Atlantic University has a program and there is a program at Coastal Community College in Brunswick. What is the job market like for healthcare workers in Savannah? Can you comment on the two above mentioned schools? Thank you. ASGDRP |

The health care field in Savannah is desparate for workers. Your wife would have no problem at all. three large hospitals, all connected to medical schools and many, many MD offices and free standing clinics.
I can't evaluate the two schools, but Armstrong would seem to me to offer more advantages than the school in Brunswick. It's a matter of location and size. Memorial Hospital used to train their own technicians, but I think they stopped that program....but maybe not. It might be worth checking. |

Thank you for your reply. I also wanted to mention that I am an Asian-Indian and my wife is white. From what I have searched, I don't think that this will be a problem. Also, the two of us are avid shooters. We don't hunt, but we like to target shoot. Are there lots of areas where we can do that? Thanks.

I'm not sure about shooting ranges. The two I know about have either closed or have been reduced in size and scope.
Here's the best known one. Forest City Gun Club's Home on the Web It may not be what you're looking for, but maybe someone there can help you find what you need. |

Thank you for your responses. We will be going out to Savannah in August because my wife has a job interview there at one of the major hospitals. Could you recommend a few good apartment complexes for us to check out while we are there? We need two bedrooms and probably keep it around $1000 per month preferably with washer/dryer hookups. Thanks.

There are many apartment complexes in Savannah. Some are much more convenient to Memorial and Candler than the ones out near St. Joseph. You shouldn't have any problem finding a place in your price range. If you decide to go to Armstrong, I would suggest that you look into one of the complexes on Abercorn Street. You would then have an easy access to any of the hospitals too.

Carefully check out the ones on Abercorn Between the Malls, some are good and some are not. Windsor Forest Neighborhood Association recently excluded some areas.......... |
