My husband and I have 10 children including 4 adopted children from Ethiopia. We are hoping to move to Georgia to get away from the cold weather in Michigan. We currently live in a racially diverse area.

Our summers are hot 80-90 and humid due to Lake Michigan. Our jobs are not a concern as we are self-employed. Good Public schools are the most important factor for our family and we are used to living near the water.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best area we should visit first and how many months are truly hot and steamy? Thank you for your suggestions!

I actually think is terms of multicultural families fitting into an array of communities, yours could probably fit in to almost any setting. Conservative Christians do lots of mission work in Africa and the idea of adopting African children is not very foreign to them.

If connecting your kids to their heritage is a concern, Savannah probably doesn't have much of an Ethiopian community. However, Atlanta has one of the largest in the country, and you could do some Ethiopian cultural things in Atlanta when you are here.

I should warn you, the majority of Ethiopians who seem to make it to Atlanta are of the Orthodox Christian, Amharic-speaking Northern Ethiopia variety, or so I notice, while, without knowing your kids' backgrounds, many of the refugee/adopted Ethiopians are Southern Ethiopian and Muslim, as those are the regions of Ethiopia that have been most troubled in recent decades. Languages and everything are completely different, as I'm sure you know.

Good luck!
