The sandgnats in the area are EVIL and there is nothing that works everytime. Make sure you dont use any body/hair products with fruity smells (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, etc) or they will travel miles to eat you. And for the bites the only real true relief is lots of hydracortizone and distraction from being covered in itchy red spots.

I have th same problem when I go to St. Louis Missouri. I keep covered when I'm out, almost all summer and use some type of repellent , this has been working most of the time. . They bother some people much more than others. Those bites really hurt and itch some of us, and the more bites I get the more pain I'm in.

Default Biting bugs

I get great relief from rubbing banana peels(inside of peels) on the bites. Before I started using the peels, I was miserable. no-see-ums, I never would imagine.
