Rincon. There would be no need to live elsewhere. There are nice homes there. Anything else and you would have a long comute.

A short history lesson is in order here. Some years ago, there was a mass exodus from Savannah to Effingham County. People working in Savannah, especially those on the West side liked the idea of a small community with low taxes, nice schools, and all the goodies that come from living in a smallish community.
Then, it dawned on everyone that to support all those people that work in Savannah, but had moved to Effingham County, especially Rincon, Police and firemen had to be hired, schools had to be built. And of course, bigger and better water and sewer systems. And who was going to pay for all of that? Yep, the same people that left Savannah because of the property tax. And no one, especially those that have lived there all their lives, likes it.
That's the way it works. Too many people move into Paradise and it becomes just like every place else.
But there are nice sections of housing. Rincon would be the most convenient place to live.

The City of Savannah is the water Barron for all of SE Georgia
They sell Water to all South Effingham. SEffingham built a 36 in water line through P Wentworth to the developing areas. now they have to dump the water to keep the water flowing at a rate to prevent nasties from forming. the county pays Savannah for all of this water. The sewer system is more interesting. They cannot dump the treated sewerage into the river. It is used to keep the lawns at the schools green and the golf courses lush.... They planned to build new roads into Savannah but were shocked that they can not condemn property in Port Wentworth or Savannah; therefore all the new people on 21
the politicians keep us entertained!!!!!!!!!!!!

While Atlanta imposes watering restrictions, Effingham dumps water flushing this big line at the rate of 1 million gallons a day. Since January 2003, Effingham has dumped over 1.3 billion gallons of Savannah treated river water and it has cost Effingham over $755,000 dollars as of the end of July. This water wasted to provide 30 million gallons of water to Schools and Redidents in the service area of South Effingham.
