Hello all! We are transferring to Savannah in July and I could use some help. I am in need of neighborhood information around the Pooler area, high school information (I have a 9th grader), rental house info, and anything we may find useful. I hope to be working at Memorial hospital as a RN and husband is engineer. Planning trip at the end of May to look at neighborhoods but have no clue where to begin. Thanks for any help/advice!

Do you know where your husband will be working? Pooler would be a bad commute for you if you work shift work. The Memorial Hospital is in a good residential area.

Memorial in a good residential area? Not exactly ... especially for a family with teenagers. Nurses work 12 hour shifts / odd hours so commute from Pooler (or anywhere) shouldn't be a problem. New high school serving Pooler / West Chatham opens this fall (maybe?).

Newsboy is very very very very familiar with EVERYTHING there is to know about Savannah. So you can rely on everything he ever says about anything.

Thank you Padgett!

TO THE OP -- There's tons of great / affordable neighborhoods in the Pooler area, including quite a few rentals I imagine. That area continues to be the fastest growing part of Savannah with lots of new construction, stores, restaurants, etc going up all the time. I'm guessing you're husband's job will be on that side of town? Best of both worlds -- close to interstates, 15 minutes to downtown, 30 minutes to beaches.

Avoid Effingham County if you can. The commute traffic on Highway 21 is a daily mess.
