Savannah Jobs/Economy
My brother is returning from Iraq this month back to his fort which is an hour away from Savannah. My in-laws, who I love, live a few hours away in Charleston. Because we want to be in a warmer climate and closer to our families, my husband and I are thinking about moving there.
BUT, I can't seem to find many jobs in the marketing/communications field. What is the job outlook there for marketing professionals?

My feeling is that there isn't a lot of openings in your field. However, there are some, I am sure. It would be just a matter of finding one. Perhaps the job opportunities for your husband might make a difference if you had to take something else for a while.

Savannah, Hinesville among country's 'best performing' cities | SavannahNow.com
Workers in the new Gulfstream Aerospace Savannah Service Center build customized interiors for the aircraft. The center is part of a seven-year, $400 million long-range expansion plan fthat will add more than 1,100 new jobs in the Savannah area.
more port activity= warehouse and trucking.
There are many jobs being created, but many more people are wanting to move here. Many move then look for employment and then are disappointed that their job skills are not what is in demand here.

My best advice is either settle for something in the service industry, or start your own business. The job market is tough here, and very specialized (ports-related, industrial, tourism-related, health fields). Better to know now rather than later. All the best!

Thanks! Maybe we'll consider Atlanta instead, which isn't as close, but has a lot of marketing opportunities.

I was at Ft. Stewart for a while, and have spent lots of time down around Savannah. Have lived around Atlanta for about 7yrs. I would take that area ANYDAY over Atlanta. Sure Atl could be nice if your in-town in one of the family friendly areas, Perimeter, etc. But your talking BIG BIG Bucks.
The commute here is horrendous, no other word for it. And your having to go further and further out to afford anything.
