The programs are not competitive. Competition is a no-no. Spaces are awarded according to the date of application. It is more fair this way.......................

The application process begins in January. only 2 require testing.
Contact the schools of choice for applications

You could say that GVA is a form of homeschooling, with the books and Supplies and assignments and teacher provided

We homeschooled our youngest 2 for 2 years, the planning was overwhelming.
We went back to public schools but it is more like free baby sitting.
So we are seriously thinking about GVA

Default Providence Christian School

Whatever you do don't send your kids to Providence Christian School. I just pulled my two kids out. The administration stinks, they can't pay their bills, they have a hard time paying their teachers, they change campuses every two or so years and the education isn't very good. My kids went there for a year and a half. The board is very good at hiding information from the parents.

The other private schools here are kind of pricey especially if you have multiple children.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

We moved here about 1 1/2 years ago and we moved to Georgetown because of the elementary school. I looked up all of the test scores in the area and Georgetown is the best of the worst. Overall I've been pretty happy. I think there could be a lot more communication between the school and parents. My 2 younger kids-Kindergarten and first grade are very happy there. My fifth grader isn't so happy. We are now looking into middle schools and this is where it gets frightening. No one in my neighborhood sends their kids to Southwest. I ran into a mom when registering my kids at g'town and she was getting her kids records to transfer to Richmond Hill because her son went to Southwest in the SEARCH program and they decided it would be better to move then send him there again. My child was accepted at an honors middle school but I may send him to private school unless my husband finds a new job and we can move out of here which is our first choice. My recommendation to anyone would be to move to Richmond Hill. If I could do it over again that is where I would go. As for pre-schools without a doubt send you child to White Bluff United Methodist Church. It is Outstanding!

Worked with Diane Strickland, REMAX Savannah while searching for our new home in Richmond Hill.
Warm, friendly, experienced professional realtor.

Come to Richmond Hill. Lots of military, great schools, good housing, parks and a new soccer complex. Decent taxes, low HOA fees (Tranquilla Hall anyway) and safe. We moved here 7 years ago with two middle schoolers. It was during Christmas break and we were told DO NOT put them in Chatham Co schools. Private schools were closed because of the holidays. We were coming from Columbus, GA and had to get a house. We have never regretted coming to RH. A bit of a drive, but worth it. I used to work near Hunter, off of Montgomery Crossroads.
I can walk my dogs at night and not worry. We have never had any incident of crime here. Nice neighbors, traffic is a little thick in the morning, but nothing like Atlanta or anything! Fishing, gun range (free), crabbing, marshes, parks, you can't beat it. Savannah is just 15-20 minutes away.
My spouse used to work for Chatham County schools and I learned first hand how awful the schools are. Deep problems that are not fixed. I have been here 7 years, and they have had 3 superintendents.
