Food tastes like it came from a box or can...Not sooo great! You can have the same meal at Ryans or Golden Corral, with much less of a wait....

Asking A Favor
Hello Paula;
I have a girlfriend who will be at your restaurant on June 15 (fathers day) at 4:30. She is a huge fan and has your cooking books, magazines and watches your show everyday. It is her 60 th birthday and her family and I are giving her a gift to your restaurant as well as a trip to Savannah where she has always wanted to go. she is the most giving person I know often at her expense. I lost my husband 7/4/06 and I was living in Pa at the time I moved back to Ct to be with my family and friends I couldn't find a house right away and of course Linda told me to stay with her. I didn't find a house which was a Godsend because 12/4/07 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and she has taken such good care of me. My favor to you is could it be possible if you are in the restaurant that day to say hello to her. her name is Linda Saars and it would be such a thrill to her.
Thank you
Karen Johns

I really doubt that Paula reads this forum. Perhaps if you sent a letter to her web site (do a Google search) she might see it. I understand that she is seldom in the place anymore. She's a very busy lady.

I agree...I thought it OK, but not stellar.
The best southern buffet I've encountered in GA is the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle.

kwflconch,
I'm a fan of food-tv, so i was excited about eating at Lady & Sons. there are no reservations taken.you have to put your name on the list and they tell you what time you will be eating.Ex: name on list at 11:30 sat down to eat at 1:30. we did not order from the menu but ate from the buffett. very dissappointing. was expecting something great but not many items to choose from. tables close together and crowded. if your not there when it comes time to call your name to eat you forfeit your turn.If your hoping to see paula she or her sons are rarely there.

it is overpriced tourist fodder...if you want a good low country meal...go to the lunch buffet at the magnolia room at the Desoto Hilton in Downtown Savannah....it is GREAT food and the price is VERY good...downright affordable..and if you park in the parking garage...they will void your parking ticket for free!

Ate at Lady & Son's. Do not recommend at all. The food was canned everything, gravey, deserts, etc. Was not worth the money nor time waiting to get in. What's with that Paula? It says that you are famous for cooking. Do you cook for Banquet frozen TV dinners?

They serve so many each day. It would be hard to continue the good food that made her famous.

Paula Deen's the Lady & Sons AND her brother's restaurant Uncle Bubba's is overpriced and overrated.
If you're a fan of Paula Deen, go visit but don't expect it to be grandma's home cookin' (like it used to be years ago before she got famous).
I don't send any of my guests (where I work) there and when people ask (as many many many do) I tell them exactly what I mentioned above. Another funny thing to note; roughly 80% of them can't even tell me the name of her restaurant correctly. I get wheres the woman and 2 kids, or the son and two daughters, etc, etc.. its ridiculously funny.

I had food from the Lady's at a catered event not long ago. It was surprisingly greasy and salty. Not very good, at all. Actually, some of it was awful.
Years ago, it was excellent. I'm surprised that they can't do a little better in the quality control department. Wouldn't surprise me if their cooks were getting away with doing as little as possible.
Maybe that would be something worth investigating...it's really hard to ruin basic good southern food, especially if you have recipes.
