Whenever we take a trip I know the biggest issue is going to be food. My son is 14 and so picky (drives me nuts!) so I thought I'd be "smart" this time and start looking ahead for restaurants he will eat at. Pizza, chicken, pasta, steak, blt, ribs, wings all ok. No seafood, not even a tuna sandwich! No buffets either.

I did read through the restaurant thread and West Wing Cafe, Green Truck,Sundae Cafe all look doable although I keep reading about the long wait for Green Truck.

Any other suggestions would be great!

Might I recommend searching "American" restaurants on sites like TripAdvisor? Here's a quick link to get you started: Savannah, GA American Restaurants: See 678 restaurants with 45,489 reviews - TripAdvisor

There are lots of choices around. If he's stuck on purely American fare, there are all the chains here.

No seafood?! No buffets?! What's the point of coming to Savannah then?

Chicken, steak. ribs = Johnny Harris

Pizza=all over the place

Pasta( American Italian)= all over the place. Pasta (Italian American)= none IMHO in Savannah

American= Clary's, Five spot, Johnny Harris, and every fast food joint known to man thrives in Savannah.

BTW I know of Sunday Café out at Tybee. Is there one closer in?

Tybee is worth the trip but not for restaurant only. Fifteen miles out from hundreds of restaurants in town.

I've never been to a seafood restaurant that did NOT have a kid's menu with lots of NON-seafood items. Unless your son is one of those kids who can't tolerate even the SMELL of seafood, in which case you might want to reconsider your trip LOL.

The Pirate's House has many non-seafood items and is a lot of fun for kids. They get a pirate's hat and costumed actors wander around regaling patrons with stories of pirate lore. They also give tours of the building and tell funny / scary stories that kids love. Upstairs, there's a pirate gift shop.

For a more traditional restaurant that also is very kid-friendly, I recommend The Cotton Exchange Tavern on River Street.

If you go to Pirate's House, your son can get fried chicken, but everyone else can get what they want, and it will be good. It's historic and it has parking.

The Sundae Cafe is actually a fine dining establishment. The Sugar Shack is an ice cream/hotdog joint across the street.
