As a follow up, not only did my husband have several interviews, but he has now been employed for over 6 weeks by a very profitable and hardy company that has little to no chance of being affected by the economy.

So yes...there are jobs...good jobs...to be had.

My best wishes go out to those of you still looking. Don't give up.

There was a article on Savannahnow.com talking about the economy coming back. Basically it said we are at 2006 levels of job employment in all levels except construction where we are still 3,000 jobs short.

My husband did a lot of scouring. He looked at craigslist (which you have to be careful of, but there are legitimate ones on there) and savannahhelpwanted.com for the most part. If you send me a direct message, I will give you the staffing company name, but I can't list it here due to advertising rules on the forum.

It wasn't an easy process. He looked at hundreds of jobs every day for 6 months. But in the end, his persistence paid off.

The best of luck to all of your out there still looking.

Hi all -
I am thinking to relocate to Savannah in about a year. I'm doing some research now. Interested in being in a small metropolitan town (which I think Savannah is), be near the beach, the parks to play some tennis, enjoy walks and definitely to work in an administrative job in any field (I have a wide range of areas I can work in). I need to be in a safe environment, near the public transportation (so that when the car breaks down, I don't have to sweat too much), need to bout 1/2 hrs away from Savannah. Defninitely thinking about this move. Husband and I are in our early 50's. Your feedback pls. We are tired of Atlanta and gaining weight and want to be where we can get more natural exercise in.

Hi there - I would like any help with locating administrative jobs (Secy, Admin Asst/Exec Asst jobs, HR, jobs like that) as we are researching and thinking about relocating to Savannah. The names of a couple great agencies would be great. My e-mail address is: joni491@msn.com
Thanks a lot. Also any helpful info on life in Savannah, where is the better places (not too expensive) to relocate to. Definitely need to be where there's a bus route as we don't want to worry about our car breaking down and we are stranded (like in Atlanta) :-(
We like the parks to play tennis and walk...... we like the downtown atmosphere of just a leisurely walk around the town for a little wkend out or Friday night evening out.....stuff like that.

Look fwd to hearing from you.

Jo

I don't mean to whine, well, ok, maybe I do, but why isn't there a "Relocation" thread on here? These exact same questions are asked over & over. Wouldn't is be easier to have a thread for these folks to go to to do their own research, like other forums? JMHO

Any info on this city would be appreciated. Our maybe you could suggest a city near Savannah? I'm not really looking to live in a big city but would like to be a driveable distance from one when I feel like some entertainment.
Hello, I just recently moved to Savannah myself, within 3mths I had a job, a house, and my children enrolled in schools and other programs. I was looking to move on the outskirts of Savannah as well, but the commute to work in the city is horrible. Savannah has so much traffic. But there are cities that are around the outskirts where the living is less expensive like Rincon, Springfield, and maybe Pooler. I also came from Northeast Ga, from Commerce, and Gainesville. It is very different here. But good luck with your move.
