Where to have a small, intimate wedding in Savannah, GA?
Hello All,
I am looking for a venue in Savannah to have a small wedding for about 50 people. I was thinking a bed and breakfast, or on Tybee Island (perhaps rent out condos and have a beach wedding) . I need a location that is children friendly, fun, and romantic. Also, please advise of some restaurants that accommodate receptions. Thanks.

Do a google search for "Savannah Wedding Planners" I am sure you will find something there that will suit.
What time of year were you planning for? Beach weddings sound nice, but they can be a big problem if the time of year, tides, etc. are not just right. A squall off shore can really mess up things.

Since you mention one of the Islands. Have you ever checked out the Jekyll Island Club? Personally, I think it's both romatic and fun.

50 people is hard in Savannah. I got married this past Oct and had about 80 people, and most places were too big or too small. However, I did a vast amount of research and if you want to do Tybee, check out George's restaurant. Also, you can rent out the pier, and there are numerous wedding planners who will set up a beach wedding for you fairly cheaply. We also looked into renting a house, but never found anything suitable.
If you want to do something in the historic district, check out the Walker Mansion on Forsythe park. It's a big gorgeous house, and the bottom floor is basically empty. I had a friend get married there and it was gorgeous. The Ships of the Sea museum is good too, if you don't mind doing it outside, but you do have to rent a tent and do all the catering yourself. Renting out a square is definitely cheaper, but you have to worry about people in the background, although the security is good about keeping people out of the way during the ceremony.
We opted for the Roundhouse Railroad museum. It's a different setting, but when it's all done up it looks gorgeous. They also have a beautiful garden area where we had the ceremony. I will say they were horrible to work with, and we did everything ourselves. My one regret was not hiring a wedding planner.
Also, don't discount hotels. Again, most of the bed and breakfast places we looked at just couldn't accommodate 80 (or even 50) people. The Mulberry was far too expensive for us, but with 50 people you could use one of the smaller areas and it really has more of a bed and breakfast feel than a hotel. Tea every afternoon, and pianist in the lobby. Planters Inn might work for you too.
Savannah is tough for that size of a wedding but there are options. Hope this helps!

That is the same place where Paula Deen got married. It is VERY beautiful.

Consult a new magazine that just came out. Something Blue...it will have plenty of ideas for you in there! It also is just about "Savannah weddings".

Me, too...and there is a beautiful little chapel near the hotel.
Another popular small wedding venue on Jekyll is the Crane Cottage in Millionaire's Village...I attended a wedding there in April and it was pitch-perfect.
Also, the Lovely Lane chapel on St Simons (on the grounds of Epworth-By-The-Sea) is popular for small weddings.
