Default Thinking of relocating to Savannah from WV

I am considering taking a position with a chemical plant in Savannah. I am trying to find as much information as possible regarding the schools, recreation, crime, and overall lifestyle. I have a 6 yr. old boy and 4 yr. old girl who really enjoy the outdoors. We currently live in the country north of Charleston in West Virginia. While the economy and job opportunities in WV are limited, it is a great place to raise a family, the school system is decent and there are plenty of outdoor recreational activities.

I am going down next week to look at schools, residential areas, etc. The job would be a great opportunity for me, but I just want to make sure my kids have a safe and enjoyable environment to grow up in. Does anyone have suggestions as far as schools & neighborhoods?

Look in the Wilmington/Whitmarsh Islands area. The schools are good, it's outdoorsy, and the crime rate is low. The YMCA on Whitmarsh has scads of recreational and sports for the youngsters (and the adults too.) Very family oriented.

Try looking at a map where I-16 and I-95 come together:

Then go west. Like areas like Pooler, Bloomingdale, Pembroke, Meldin, Eden, and Ellabel.

I'd also look into Richmond Hill and Midway.

Now I recommend these places because you said you currently live out in the country and your kids like the outdoors. All those areas arent too god awful far from Savannah, Ga. Depends where exactly this plant is but i wish you luck.
