Question Best areas in or around Savannah

I am looking into moving to savannah because i have been offered a job with rolls-royce and gulfstream. I've heard Savannah has a high crime rate for it's size, so I'd like to know which areas are best to rent an apartment, most importantly low-crime areas/suburbs. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

thanks!

If you will be working in the Gulf Stream area, then you need to find a place in Pooler or Rincon. That's on the west side of Chatham County. Skip Garden City or Port Wentworth as while they both have some nice places, for rental property, (apartment or condo type) Pooler or Rincon is the better choice.

OOPS! Rincon is just across the line in Effingham County.

You could go into the suburbs of Savannah, such as Wilmington Island or Georgetown, but since you will be at Gulfstream, being nearer to your work place makes more sense.

The closest apartments to Gulfstream would be on Benton Blvd in Pooler
There are a couple of complexes being built in Rice Hope on Ga 21 but they are not finished yet.

rush hour Traffic out of Rincon is bad. Would avoid it.

Action starting now would take years to correct the existing problems.
Then there are not many apartments in Rincon........
some apartments on US 80 in Garden City, but avoid those on Ga 21 east of Gulfstream Road

..Rush hour Traffic is nothing like true "Rush Hour Traffic" in any areas of Atlanta. I wouldn't consider the traffic in Savh on hwy 21 aka I516 is not 'rush hour'... especially when your use to living in a major city such as Atlanta, Charlotte, or Newark, NJ where there's an extreme amount of traffic.

I agree with you.

But, Gdot is spending $90 million, in Effingham because they the "Traffic" is sooooooo bad.
Pushing it ahead of less important traffic problems in Metro Atlanta
AKA Reps Buddy Carter and Jon Burns' Major pork project for Rincon
People in the metro area should be outraged

This distance involved is just not that much for major traffic worries.

What it boils down to is the actual distance that you have to travel. The areas in Pooler and Rincon are your best bets. Secondly, Port Wentworth and Garden City.

Isn't it admirable to take a preventative approach to a burgeoning problem? Think about how much more liveable Atlanta would be had their representatives been as forward thinking as the Effingham delegation...kudos to Burns and Carter. Property values will continue to increase in this area if traffic is improved now, rather than later.

STOP the Effingham Parkway!
Will property values increase with a freeway through the middle of a residential subdivision
Should Highlands Avenue and Benton Blvd be turned into a 6 lane truck route?
Should the residents of Monteith be kicked out of their homes?
Do you know about the route and the quiet neighborhoods it will destroy?
a truck route through the middle of Coldbrook and Lakeshore and Highlands?
It is just a big porker another bridge to nowhere

The NW Tollway for trucks to get to the port from I-95 is a good idea that will not go through a residential neighborhood

YooHoo! People.....the original poster did not ask a thing about the future highway construction plans.

He merely wants advice on where to live if he works at Gulf Stream. Please stick to the subject.

My opinion is pooler, rincon, or richmond hill!
"Top Notch" places to live, low crime, good enviorment!
Richmond Hill is a little bit of a drive, but not to bad!
Good Luck
