Just saying thank you all!
For all your help, great information, tips, advice...appreciate the feed back. We're concentrating our search in Richmond Hills and parts of Effingham county. I think these two areas have what we're looking for, or at least a great start. Now on to the task of finding a home with a couple acres.

Good news!!
Hubby and I both have job offers and we will be coming down to interview and sign on the dotted lines next week!! We will also be exploring some of these areas that you guys suggested.. Georgetown, Richmond Hill (again) Rincon, north Port Wentworth, wherever we can fit in 6 days. really clean , safe hotel? (Sorry, but we had a nightmare of a stay, last trip when we stayed in one of the chain hotels in Hinesville).

Update.....All went well. We found that Richmond Hill was very central to where we were heading for our interviews and accessible to all areas. Well, we got the jobs (yea). I actually accepted 2 offers. We got up to Bloomingdale, Pooler, Port Wenthworth, Guyton, and down to Georgetown. Visited each and every middle & high school in each respective area. We took the kids inside and spoke to the assistant principle in a couple and front office staff in all. We timed ourselves to and from our jobs, back to the hotel area (loved the area) and found it took us both 23 minutes to get there and back (factoring in time of day). It was a really productive trip. We really liked the Richmond Hill area, very clean, the people are also very friendly. Nice restaurants. Would probably rent there for a year and buy in Bloomingdale. We also liked the Georgetown area, but the high school..not so much.
