Default Savannah or Charlotte???

My family moved to the Nashville area last summer from Pennsylvania. I have 5 children ages 11 to 22 who are of East Indian decent. We have enjoyed the area here however there is a very good chance we will have to relocate again this coming summer because of my husband's job. The two areas we are considering are Charlotte or Savannah. 3 of our children are out of high school so job market is important. We have 2 still in school (one in special ed) so education is also a concern. We are a fairly conservative Catholic family. Also as our children are Indian we would like to move to a resonably culturally diverse area. We would look in suburbs for a house with 4 or more bedrooms. Does anyone have any input as to which areas would suit our family best??? It would be great to have a "heads up" on things before we get to close to chosing an area. Thanks in advance for your input!!!

Ok, I don't live in either city but have been to both on jobs, and just my opinion on observations is that between the two, Charlotte is your best bet.

Savannah has a thriving tourism industry, and some might say more culture in some ways, but overall it's a small city with higher than average crime and more tourist-industry type jobs (as in lower pay) than a city like Charlotte. Charlotte isn't exactly as diverse as Atlanta or New York, but it's rapidly growing and has a strong job sector and varied economy.

Default Pick Charlotte!!!

Charlotte is the largest city in the Carolinas and one of the most rapidly expanding metropolitan areas in the United States, there is an average of 20,000 people that relocate to Charlotte each year. Charlotte is already home to some of the most well known Fortune 500 companies, such as Bank of America, Lowe's, Wachovia Corporation, Duke Energy, Family Dollar and Goodrich Corporation. This positive economic atmosphere has acted like a magnet for job seekers and directly fuels the booming market for real estate in Charlotte NC.

In fact, Bank of America and Wachovia have combined deposits of close to $1 trillion per year; nationally ranking first and fourth in this category, respectively. As it stands now, Charlotte is the second largest banking and financial center in America for headquartered assets, just behind New York City. With an average family income that exceeds national levels and a general cost of living that is a full 8.0% lower, it's no wonder why much of the rest of the country is choosing Charlotte, NC as thier new home. The 1980s and 90s were especially gracious to Mecklenburg County and this economic growth continues to bless the real estate in Charlotte, North Carolina as we move into the 21st century.

Hope this helps!
