Default Stateboro or Savannah...or somewhere in between?

Thinkin of Statesboro...but then again Savannah is closer to the ocean...which is the better place to live with kids and finding employment? And one more thing...my husband works at Walmart Distribution Center...I know that there is one in Statesboro, but where is the one in Savannah located? And if anyone knows...which one of those is the better place to work?

Employment wise...you'll fare better in the Savh area.

I will admit, Statesboro has grown within the last 20 years, but the total consensus of employer's pay is LOW. Major employers in Statesboro that I can think of at this moment are: Georgia Southern University, Viracon (glass mfg), and Walmart Distribution Ctr. There's a greater pool of jobs in Savh with a higher probability of higher pay..

If you move to Statesboro and decide to commute to Savh, you should have a good commute since I16 East or Westbound doesn't accrue alot of traffic, or at least not like in Atlanta. My commute was on avg 1hr or 65 miles one way and I did that for 7.5 yrs right up til the plant closed . Only encountered a few "traffic jams" during the 7:45-8:00am hrs. After 4:30p was a somewhat different story, but yet doable.

Statesboro is a college town. There is a small mall, Wal-Mart, and various other stores. If you can be content with the "small town" atmosphere, it could work for you.

For kids, I would pick the Statesboro area over Savannah. There is a water park in Statesboro and the schools are better. The Brooklet area is nice if you like a more rural setting. You can always take a day trip to the beach if you desire going to the shore.

Hope this helps and good luck on your decision.
