Moving from Long Island to Pooler, GA
Hey there, I'm a 28yr old, single Mom relocating to GA from Long Island, NY. I've found a beautiful house in Pooler, but I know NOTHING about the area. HELP!!! I'm looking for some info, specifically what anyone can tell me about:
The best hospital
Good job hunting websites
Port Wentworth Elementary School
Mercer Middle School
Best, affordable, nearby College
Dating scene/Nite Life
Anything else that I should know! :0)
Thank you so much!

Pooler is great, the whole outskirts of Savannah is great, I visit Pooler and Port Wentworth all the time on my way to Charleston, SC from Macon, GA. Its great the people are very friendly and the town is booming. The New LaQuinta Hotel is just great as well, its located right off Interstate 95, I luv it. Pooler is just great.

First, be sure you have employment before you come.
There are no hospitals in the Pooler area. Savannah has three good size ones. Savannah has two state supported universities, Savannah State University and Armstrong State University. There are two others, non-sate, South University and Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD). If you live in Pooler, Georgia Southern University at Statesboro is a possibility.

I live in Pooler - a transplant from NJ myself. There are 2 hospitals in midtown Savannah, practically right next to each other, and both are 20-30 min from Pooler depending on traffic.
As for schools, Pooler's are not horrible, but nothing compared to education in the northeast. You really need to consider a private school, like Savannah Christian.
Nightlife in Pooler is very limited, but downtown Savannah is only 15-20 minutes, and there are lots of bars and nightclubs there.
Your employment situation should be your main priority. A lot of good jobs are found word of mouth. Your best bet is to get down here and get in front of as many people as you can in your industry.

The house I'm looking into is in Pooler, Springlake in the Highlands? I'm loving the house, just need more insight into the area. Looking for a safe friendly commuinity to raise my son.

Oh yes! And depending on where you work, it could be easy. By some routes, the morning traffic can be irritating, but doable. There is probably school bus pick up in that area for Mercer and the High School (probably Groves)

Springlake in the Highlands and all of Highlands and most of Jimmy Deloach Pky are in the City of Savannah not In Pooler proper and not UNINCORPORATED Chatham County. You would get to vote for the Mayor of Savannah
It came out in the Jan 7 meeting that some of the Godly Station and Pooler students
are zones to Beach High
A.E. Beach High School
School locator:
Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools
Savannah Christian is good if you are very religious
Savannah Christian Preparatory School
if not look to Savannah Country Day
The Savannah Country Day School News
