Jason Buelterman is a Cincinnati, OH boy, and he seems to have done OK here. Tybee is a lot different than Savannah, though.
Imagine if everyone's dream candidate was elected for Mayor. They would be constrained by the Aldermen. Given a choice, I'd just as soon keep Edna and sweep all the Aldermen out.

DarkKnight if you and your fellow SCADdies to stay I think you'll be among many folks from throughout Asia. There is a generally very international representation at SCAD. Many Thai students especially. I am quite happy with the international infusion in the city. But yeah live your life before you get warn out in politics. Look at what it did to Obama! I think he might have aged 30 years!

I'm not a SCADdie.

My parents immigrated here from the Philippines in the mid 70's.

Born and raised here as were my other 4 older siblings. Love my city and want it to improve. Just don't see that happening if someone Old Savannag like OC gets elected.

Also, Buelterman was one of my teachers at Sol C. Johnson 10 years ago. Don't know if he still does double duty or not.

Dark. Cool. I love that you settled here. I thought the same thing right when I got here.. hmm, I'll stay here a while. Cool city.

Yeah I am really confused why people are so excited about OC Welch. I think it's just name recognition. We need someone that can manage public safety and city budget. His experience in the private sector is good but I'm not sure it's enough. You're right. Old Savannah.

I think folks fixate on OC because he saw a problem and fixed it (Bacon Park GC). This is a fantasy some of us have, which is to have enough money and power to see problem= fix problem. That would be the greatest thing about being filthy rich.
If I were OC Welch, however, I wouldn't touch politics either. He's a successful good old boy who can afford to spend his golden years having fun perfecting his childhood golf course. He's smart enough to know that money and power will not help Savannah politics, only a clean sweep will.
