Hopefully the new facade looks a lot better. I like how they already have an outdoor entrance to the shoe store now.

Sidenote: Wtoc will host their weekly 'tailgating with wtoc' tomorrow live from Downtown Statesboro at 7:30pm. Its First Friday, Statesboro Chili Cookoff, Farmers Market, and a Home Game Weeked(saturday) against Georgia State wrapped all in one! I Hope they interview a city leader or two about where are we at in the Blue Mile- Downtown Redevelopment project! Lol its ashamed that it gets to a point where you Hope for an interview on tv to find out about a development/redevelopment project. Thanks to the Statesboro Herald for totally Ignoring what most folks care about. Sad

Default Bi-Lo #5567, Statesboro Mall, 325 Northside Drive East, Suite 1, Statesboro, Georgia 30458-7121

Statesboro Mall may have a vacancy to fill. Bi-Lo #5567 appears to be in the process of closing.

That would be unfortunate if true. That would only leave 2 Wal-Marts and 2 Food Worlds as far as large grocery stores are concerned. I wonder if the newer Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market undercut BiLo's business.

Edit: checked the link. Where does it say the store is closing?

Store closings are not always announced. When a store is in the process of closing, service departments are the first to close, hours of operation are reduced, and associates are relocated to other stores.

I wonder if Publix will consider returning to Statesboro sooner than later now.

That location would certainly be an "in your face" option for Publix to announce their return to Statesboro. That, or the old Winn Dixie. Given the way Publix can do no wrong these days, I'd like to see them make a 'triumphant return'.

Publix locates in similar trade areas where Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie operate or have operated, and it usually outlasts them.
