A 3.0 cumulative GPA? That's far more lenient than I thought it was for the Arts Academy. I read in the Morning News last year that most high school kids in Georgia have a solid B average now. Must be grade inflation, as those Chatham honor rolls are 3 and 4 times as long as they were for us "back in the day." Sometimes I think that a B in 2016 would be a C-minus 40 years ago.

The School of Engineering at Jenkins High School is still a very good program, most of the graduates do end up at GA Tech, one of the 2015 graduates is at MIT

Savannah Schools have the best programs in the area

It is what you make of it. I received terrific support from my guidance counselors at Jenkins and had a wonderful network of teachers and administration. Granted this was 10 years ago, but nevertheless it was a good experience. I've never been one to believe that I'm entitled to someone showering me with attention, so maybe that's the difference.

You have to seek support and be willing to learn. That can't be taught at school. That comes from home.

Not even that. I was a junior in 2006. It's amazing how much grades have inflated/standards lowered.

I've heard that, DarkKnight, from relatives in public education. They tell me many parents refuse to tolerate even a grade of C if "my child does the homework." And the current educational philosophy is that grades shouldn't be "punishing" (which is anything other than A or B). At any rate, I was looking at my high school senior class Honor Roll from the 1970s: 18 to 21 students out of a class of 575. I never quite made it, and recall that those teachers were tough old birds.
