We're planning on taking a mini vacation, possibly to Savannah. Can anyone suggest a safe part of town, that's low in petty crime (e.g. larceny)?

Thanks so much!

Do you want to stay downtown historic district or are you willing to drive a little?

My family has always stayed in Midtown Savannah near Oglethorpe Mall. Reasonable prices compared to Historic district. Close to family style dining options. Not a bad drive to downtown/ historic district or beaches. Kind of a sweet spot in the middle.

Tourist areas, contrary to local paranoia, are safe. You'll be fine if you decide to stay there, however, prices reflect the popularity of the area.

I'm sorry I didn't revisit the thread sooner, but I have put my trip to Savannah on hold.
