Default Moving to Statesboro - Anyone have any tips

We're moving from Valdosta to Statesboro and wanted to get feedback on the area. Things to do and parks and recs. We have a 5-year old and hubby will be working at the University.

Wink Displaced Georgian

Hi, I am originally from the 'boro (born and raised, then left after 28 yrs) so I guess I know a little bit about it! I have been gone for awhile, though, so hopefully those who are a little more up-to-date will post with answers for you as well.
I know there is a new aquatics center there with year-round swim activities, so you might want to check that out. The new(er) rec. center (Mill Creek) has a nice walking trail. GSU has lots of fun activities for kids, especially in the summer, day camps and things. Check out Campus Recreation and Intramurals (I used to work there, great place), they have fun summer kid activities and a super rec center that you and hubby can use because he will be GSU fac/staff. My parents (who still live there) say that the "first fridays" downtown are neat (I think its the first friday of every month, I don't know much more about it).
Hope that helps, welcome to the 'boro, I would give anything to move back!

Default Statesboro summer camps

I love Statesboro. For me, this town is the perfect size. There are several summer camps in Statesboro. I will list the businesses alphabetically with their telephone number and web address. These are the ones that I know of, but there are sure to be more.
ATA Black Belt Academy Eddie Lott 912-764-3844 fastkicks.com
Averitt Center for the Arts 912-212-ARTS averittcenterforthearts.org
Bulloch County Rec Dept 912-764-5637 bullochrec.com
FBC Kidz Morning Out 912-489-7926 fbc-statesboro.com
GSU Eagle Baseball Camp 912-871-1331 eaglesbaseballcamps.com
GSU Raptor Center Camp 912-478-0831- Georgia Southern University
Kindermusik World Delia Mobley 912-764-7650 kindermusikworld.com
If you are already in Statesboro, there will be an event at the mall on Saturday, May 31 that will provide you with more camp info and Southland Magazine has a summer camp page in the June issue.

Splash in the Boro has to be one of our favorite places. We spent most of the summer there. Their website is Splash in the Boro! . Good advice Crissy Lynn!

Statesboro is a great place to raise children. Check out the Brooklet school district. You can have a place in the country that gives you some breathing room and be closer to Savannah for quick out of town romps.

Eat at Vandy's.
