Connect Savannah had a article today that provides more details on the Foram Group mixed-use project on Bull Street. The project will involve renovating the old Epworth United Methodist Church into an event space that will be able to hold between 600 and 800 people. The surface lot south of the church will be turned into a four-story building featuring Class A office space, retail, a business incubator and space for a restaurant. The lot purchased from the city will be turned into a 4-story building featuring 50 studio and one-bedroom apartments.

So, Foram is now ready to go public with the plans for that parcel, and most of the block just south of it. This is the complex constructed as Epworth United Methodist Church and most recently occupied by the New Covenant Church congregation.

The proposed mixed-use development, which the Foram Group is calling “Starland Village,” truly has a little bit of everything.

The striking gray stone assembly building will become a music venue and event space that will seat between 600 and 800 people, or allow over 900 to stand for a show. Foram reps say that it will be similar to the Orange Peel in downtown Asheville, as far as a size comparison.

Foram will also renovate the addition to the assembly hall, and build out the surface parking lot to the south (see illustration). This section will house a mix of uses—class A office space that will be split between private build-outs and shared areas that will act as incubators for small businesses. There will also be room for retail and a courtyard restaurant at the ground level, as well as another restaurant on the rooftop.

The residential component of the project will be built on the parcel just acquired from the City. There, Foram plans to build over 50 studio and one-bedroom apartments (yes, rentals!) with an on-site parking space for each.

Neighbors will find benefit in daytime (9 to 5) public access to a community rooftop park, including access to free wifi. Foram is also already in the process of working with community partners to enliven the site with public art including murals and sculpture.

Granted this will be in the Starland district, but specifically where will this be?

203 EAST GWINNETT
203 East Gwinnett is a proposed 3-story apartment building on a vacant lot in the Historic District-South area.

TOMOCHICHI COURTHOUSE ANNEX
The new building is proposed to be two stories tall with a footprint of 25,537 square feet. Two distinct masses are proposed on each of the Trust Lots, connected by a recessed glass structure serving as the public lobby and main entrance into the building. An entry plaza is proposed in front of the main entrance and a secure“vehicle courtyard” is provided off Whitaker Street. Parking is also proposed on the ground floor of the north and south wings of the building.

What's curious about this proposal for the courthouse annex is that the architect's narrative talks about fitting in and replacing the building that was an eyesore. Nonetheless, they've proposed something which is not complementary to the area its in.

That being said, I'm impressed the GSA is even going through the HDBR process since they're exempt.

I’m confused. So they’re gonna tear down the two 3 story buildings there now and replace them with one 2 story building with a glass atrium in the middle?
