Thus, like Pooler or Garden City, they would remain untouched by a merger with Savannah.
I see.

Hello,
My wife and I are looking at GA to retire because it has Kaiser-Permanente. My wife retired from that hospital group. We have great medical benefits through KP and will try to hold on to it. Looking at Skidaway Is on Zillow.com it shows 163 single family homes for sale in the 31411 zip code. That's a lot of homes for a small zip code area. Does anyone have any thoughts on why there's SO many homes for sale?
Thank you.

There's about 10,000 people in that zip code and there are about 3,500 homes on Skidaway Island. 163 homes for sale would represent only 4% of the island.

However, Skidaway Island is comprised of several neighborhoods. Roughly 80% of the island's homes are in The Landings, a gated community that's been popular since being originally developed in the 1970s.

For what it's worth, the 31410 zip code (another higher end island zip code in the Savannah MSA) has about 110 homes for sale.

It's a beautiful community, come down and look at it to see if you like it. There are advantages and disadvantages. The biggest advantage are the number of walking & biking trails in the community with jaw dropping views. The biggest disadvantage is the isolation from the city. Want to eat out it's a 25 minute drive unless you eat right outside the gates, go to the mall 25 minutes.
