Starland food truck park gets early OK (Savannah: attorney, neighborhoods)

The location is a vacant lot at 2411 DeSoto St. that would essentially serve as a restaurant with a food truck component and comes on the heels of the City of Savannah’s long-awaited food truck ordinance approval last August.

The site will conceptually feature a permanent kitchen, bar, restrooms, playground area and parking for several food trucks. More than 25 letters supporting the venture were submitted to the board before Thursday’s meeting.

“I think these people feel that this project will facilitate their quality of life as both residents and businesses and revitalize an empty vacant lot that has been sitting there and it truly the heart of Starland,” said Attorney Robert McCorkle, who spoke on behalf of the developers, NEBO Investments.

McCorkle said the family-oriented park would be a good fit for the Starland district, which is one of Savannah’s fastest growing neighborhoods with a mixture of artists, local restaurants and boutiques.
