Savannah City Council has approved the conversion of Montgomery Street from one-way to two-way traffic between Liberty and Broughton streets.City spokeswoman Michelle Gavin said the change aims to provide better access to the new Cultural Arts Center, which is currently under construction at the intersection of Montgomery and Oglethorpe streets.
The recommendation to covert the street to two-way traffic came after an extensive traffic study and evaluation of the existing roadway network, completed by Jacobs Engineering Group.

Hmm. Sounds like this is a precursor to later on try and get rid of the Montgomery I-16 exit.

They tried to do this a few years ago with all the money they spent on the "studies". I hope not, I really like the Montgomery I-16 exit. Love how it drops you off right into downtown. I've been using the Montgomery exit a lot the last few weeks, as I've been seeing more movies in Pooler at night and then driving back into town.
