Well, I have take it or lose it vacation to use for the next several days and the cold and rain forecast is messing my plans to do some camping/fishing around here.

Now the only place I can think to go would be south to Florida or southwest along the gulf area.
I've been wanting to do a road trip of sorts where I can loosely plan a direction and destination but with enough flexibility to stop and see interesting sights and enjoy local foods along the way.
It's been some over 25 yrs since I did this in my youth (then hitchhiking or motorcycling along the West Coast)

Any route and must-see stops as I seek a road trip to warm climate, relaxation, good local foods and interesting sites of Florida, Alabama or Mississippi coastlines?

Also, being cost-conscious, I avoid places like Hilton Head and St Augustine where everything's over-priced.

Well things are rather overpriced in Savannah, too, but although we’re expecting a bit of rain and cooler temps, it’s better than some places.

I’m looking forward to the cold. Got a a load of firewood that’s well seasoned and ready to burn. Let it snow!

An all day spa with a great sauna. Massage. Cocktails at 6pm. Steak/lobster dinner. All sex. Ooooops, I meant all set!

I am currently on an AMTRAK train headed to Chicago.

Left yesterday in Savannah and went all the way to DC this morning. Left DC late this afternoon and onward to CHI arriving at 8:30am.

Then to Dallas at 2pm to arrive Friday morning.

So far it’s been quite the experience of I must say.

Even Florida will feel the effects of this front. Sanibel Island (SW FL) will only see highs in the 60's this weekend.

As for me, my next warm-weather excursion will be to St. Kitts and Nevis. The lowest recorded temperature there is 62 degrees.

It might be warm there but is Nevis still standing? I get the feeling from some friends the island is gone bye bye. Not sure.

The island survived the hurricanes well; all of the resorts are open for business.
With all the tourist and cruise line diversion from the VIs, St. Barts and St. Maarten, this promises to be a banner season for them.
