We will be in Savannah with our 6 year old son in two weeks. Just staying for a long weekend. What do you recommend we do? Where should we eat? Nothing too fancy since we will have our son with us.
Thank you! |

You could go to the beach, visit Oatland Island Wildlife, Visit Forsyth Park, may be try the crab shack....

You could also eat at the Pirates House, walk down River Street, visit Ft. Pulaski or Ft. Jackson, go to the Roundhouse Railroad Museum, the Ships of the Sea Museum, or the Savannah History Museum.
There are plenty of other family friendly places to eat. I've been sending visitors to Moon River Brewery, not simply because of the beer, but because they have a diverse menu and plenty of seating. Fanny's on the Beach is fun too. They have a booth in the shape of a boat that kids seem to enjoy. It's hard to go wrong with almost any restaurant downtown. (or elsewhere, for that matter) Just look in the window or door and see if it looks too fancy for your taste. Menus are usually posted outside for convenience. |

If you go to Tybee (pronounced TIE-bee) Fannies on the Beach is perfect for families and a great view of the beach on the second level. The lighthouse is also a must (if you don't mind hiking up a ton of stairs for a great view).
Downtown also has a lot to offer and is totally walkable just about anywhere from Forsyth Park to the riverfront. The fountain in Forsyth is gorgeous! City Market is another great place to venture and they have Belford's (if you like Steak & Seafood) and Vinnie Van Go-Gos (best pizza in Savannah IMO). Tubby's Tank House is a good seafood restaurant on the river. |

So, how did your trip go? Did you see/do anything that you might like to post?? Did your son have a good time?
