The only option I have found in this price range is Pooler, however you are not going to get the acre lot. Am in the same boat relocating there and homes in the city have small lots and are expensive or they are out in the suburbs but are alot more than 150,000. Good luck in your search.

You can include Port Wentworth, Bloomingdale, and Garden City in your search. Some of the older neighborhoods have inexpensive homes with unusually large lots. They seem to be relatively safe, from what I hear.

I don't know much about schools. Taxes outside of the city of Savannah will be less, but I don't know by how much.

There seems to be a good demand for truck drivers and I imagine the same might be true for lab techs. No clue about salaries.

Bellhead has it about right. You are going to have a problem finding that size lot with that size house for that price. I think you will have to go outside of the Savannah City limits, into Chatham County, maybe even the adjacent Effingham or Bryan counties. Maybe even over in SouthCarolina around Hardeville. Pooler/Bloomingdale areas are about your best bet in Chatham County close to Savannah.

I would not rule out the Thunderbolt area. There are some decent homes there near the top of your price range, and I personally liked living there (15 mins to beach, 10 minutes to downtown, 15 minutes to a mall).
