Default Relocating to Savannah area...

Relocating to the Savannah area {Wilmington/Tybee to be precise} from Lake of the Ozarks, MO.
Would be interested in renting a small house/cottage/mobile/crackerbox.
I know that the rent will definitely be higher then where I am now.
But just how high would that be?
And could anybody suggest a place to research what is/will be available?

Any and all help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Big difference between Wilmington and Tybee. Wilmington is primarily mid-century and later suburban style homes, few crackerboxes. Tybee has more of what you're looking for.

This time of year rents are around $1000+/wk. on Tybee for the cute places. You might be able to find something for less long term. Search Tybee Island real estate listings for more accurate info.

does it have to be in that area? Small houses/moble homes/etc will rent for a lot less than that in Savannah city limits. If you are primarily interested in being near that area, the area east of Skidaway and north of Victory Drive might suit you. It's an older, 1930+ section with the typical small cottage type home of that era.

Nothing has listings as extensive as the Savannah Morning News. It might be worth your while to get a month's subscription. Their website, SavannahNow.com | Savannah Morning News has a pretty good listing, but it's not as extensive as the paper itself.

Thank You! to both.
My Bro lives in Wilmington. I'd like to stay fairly close to him, and his.
Ten miles, or so, would be great.
With out going into boring details, here's my thing:
Cranky old guy.
One dawg.
One kat.
Plan to drive down in an old MotorCoach.
On a limited fixed income.
And don't like to live with someone on the other side of my wall.
I've lived the city life.
I've lived the suburban life.
I've lived the country life.
Country wins, hands down!
Any suggestions are surely welcome.

Thanks

Are you familiar with the Thunderbolt area? It's between the Savannah city limits and the Islands. there might be something available there.

Take your motorcoach to the campground at Tybee, at least for a little while.

There are some interesting, off the beaten path, places around Savannah. I'm drawing a blank on what to recommend. You'll have to do some looking around yourself.

Skidaway Island State Park also has a campground. There might be something funky in or around Pinpoint you might enjoy renting.

If you ever want to know anything about N.Y., or San Diego, I'm the guy to ask.
But I'm not familiar with any parts of Georgia at all.
Closest I've ever gotten is "In The Heat Of The Night" and "Matlock".
My Bro is really helping me out with this move, as is his lovely bride.
But I can't let him/them do all the work.
That's why I'm sooo happy I found this forum.
And the MotorCoach is now a moot point.
As of now, I'm just a guy moving down, and looking for a place to live.

Default Thank You...

Thank You all for your input.
I found a small place on Wilmington.
Four miles from my Bro, and his family.
Close enough to be comfortable.
Far enough to be comfortable.
I'm heading down this week.
