Default Riding bikes on Sidewalks?

I see people doing it all of the time, but is it legal to do so?

I see people riding their bikes down Abercorn, down Waters and just about everywhere on bicycles.

I know in most cities it isn't, but I'm not sure about Savannah, as I see people doing it all of the time.

Thanks.

I know it's illegal downtown in the squares. I think it is elsewhere too.

However, I am sure that most of the people doing it are not aware of whether it is or is not.

It would be a very difficult thing to enforce. Police are stretched thin as it is. I would hate to think that they would take time to chase down bike riders.......they would have to do it on foot, wouldn't they!

Do you think it would be appropriate to call the non-emergency police number to get the exact details on this?

It appears that it is only illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk in certain parts of downtown.

I don't have the time or patience to go through the entire code for you. But here's someplace to start. Simply enter the term "bicycle" in the field at the top of the page.
