Default Job Market in/around Savannah

What is the job market like in the Savannah area? We go down there as many times a year as we can. Tybee Island, Savannah, is paradise to us. We would do anything to be able to relocate there, currently north of Atlanta.

From what I've seen of the job market, it looks mixed. It seemed that is used to be decent, I remember reading an article in the Savannah paper the area was set to experience a big boom like Charleston and Jacksonville. Recently I've been looking and really can't find ANYTHING there. Monster.com, Career Builder, other popular job sites, a couple local Savannah job sites, etc.

I'm in the IT field. Would really like to stay as close to 60k/yr as possible, preferably 70k or higher. Is there any chance to find a job like this in Savannah? It seems there are only a couple major employers, and they don't seem to be hiring either...

Any ideas? Recommendations?

Wouldn't we all like to earn that much here?

Try Gulf Stream. I hear they're hiring.

One of Savannah's greatest challenges is attracting better paying jobs like the one you're thinking of leaving. I can understand why. Was in Atlanta recently and am already planning not to return there ever. If we could have the number of opportunities Atlanta has and avoid the traffic and sprawl that comes with them, we'd take it.

We are probably accustomed to a much lower pay scale than you are; and there are far fewer white collar jobs available - period.
