Default Savannah tomorrow! Tuesday, July 1st

Hey guys, I'll be in Savannah tomorrow afternoon to Wednesday and would really like to go out and check out the nightlife. I know it will be a Tuesday, but are there any bars that will have something going on? I'm a recent college grad so nothing too young or too old. Also, what are some of the best seafood restaurants to check out that are moderately priced. Any other suggestions besides the Mercer house would be greatly appreciated!!!

You're hitting it at a slow time, to be sure. Will you be with friends?

Here's the tour: There are several bars along W. Congress St. that are likely to have something going on. I like Circa and Hang Fire on Whitaker St. Lu Lu's chocolate bar is a nice place for fancy drinks and rich desserts; Venus de Milo is right next to it on MLK. Saya Lounge on Broughton is fairly upscale but young.

You can walk to all of those in one great big loop. There are several I've left out on Congress St. that are equally good, a pub, a beer joint, and Mercury Lounge, and the Jinx, which is more of a music venue than a bar. Umm, also Wild Wings in City Market.

If you're going to be drinking, grab something to eat while you're on foot. There's Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Vietnamese, Southern, Moroccan, Tapas, Classic American, and Fusion all within staggering distance.

Or you can do the tourist thing and go to the River and get a frozen drink at Wet Willies and hang out and watch the ships go by. Nothing wrong with that either.

I'll let someone else deal with the seafood places. I'm tired.

Thanks for the suggestions Ellie! I've heard good things about Venus de Milo...just a little concerned that nothing will be going on due to the weekday. I'm from Orlando and the bars close at 2, is it the same there?

I think they close at 3 am. Am rarely out at that hour. LOL.

Saya Lounge seems to be usurping some of Venus's clientèle. Since they're just a few blocks apart, go to both.

Make sure to check out Wet Willie's if you like a good Daiquiri. They have anything and everything. Also I never go to Savannah without going to the Cotton Exchange for a pound of shrimp. These are some of the best I've ever eaten. Also try the Bloody Mary. The bartender there is famous for them. I am envious! Right now I would love to be going to Savannah. Enjoy!
