Who comes to Savannah & wants to hear that kind of talk? No me, and I'm sure our tourists don't either!
Welllllll....coming from New Jersey I actually don't have an accent! It's ya'll down there with the accents. Actually I get teased by my students up here cause I say ya'll which I picked up from living in Tallahassee. But generally, central New Jersyans don't have accents like the north or southern Jerseyans. I don't really care for the North Jersey/NY/Staten Island talk as it sounds rude and nasally to me. But, I do know plenty of people like that and it does bring a little originality into our grand state.

If you say "y'all", keep it up. It's one of the most useful words in the English language!

I been outta Nu Yawk for thirty-three years.
I still sound like I did when I left.
And damn proud of it.

So I guess we won't be having a beer anytime soon?

Ha ha--if you move here, you will certainly seem to have an accent to the locals. All the nature of the beast. It's okay though...we won't make fun of you...most of us anyway.

And I'll agree, those from the central part of NJ don't come near the accents of the northern part of the state...I have several friends and coworkers from each.

haha! I have coworkers and friends who have the accent too. If you can tolerate my ya'll, I can handle a little New Yawk tawk.

Beg to differ.
More transplants <like me> are showing up every day.
More diversity in everything.

And I for one think that's a good thing.
Capisca?

I LIKE YOU AL...EVEN IF YOU ARE JUST PLAIN . YOU ARE REAL AND SEEM TO BE RELATIVELY FREE FROM B/S. WOW..WHAT A RELIEF. THANK YOU FOR COUNTERING ALL THIS NEGATIVE SPEW COMING FROM SUCH CLOSE MINDED SNIPPY PEOPLE. I DON'T GET IT, REALLY. I WOULDN'T BE CONSIDERING MOVING TO SAVANNAH OR THE SOUTH IF I DIDN'T LOVE THE CULTURE..HELLO PEOPLE?? MY MOM IS FROM THE SOUTH AND GREW UP WITH REMANANTS OF HER UPBRINGING. BUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH OTHER CULTURES THROWN IN THERE. I LIVED IN ITALY SO I STILL SPEAK A BIT OF IT. GREW UP IN CALIFORNIA WITH A MILLION MEXICANS SO THERE MIGHT BE A LITTLE SPANGLISH IN THERE TOO....HAVE A FULLY DIVERSE FAMILY SO BEING AROUND ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE IS NORMAL AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE WOULD BE THREATENED BY VARIOUS WAYS OF BEING BUT THEN AGAIN....WE ARE AMERICANS AND HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF BEING PREJUDICE.
ANYHOW...I APPRECIATE YOUR CALM ABILITY TO ADDRESS SILLY COMMENTS THAT COME FROM INSECURE PEOPLE. REALLY...Y'ALL....IT'S OK I AM JUST BEING MYSELF.
HEY GAFLSC: ALLOW PEOPLE TO DO THAT, BE THEMSELVES, DIFFERENT OR INDIVIDUAL WITHOUT PUTTING THEM DOWN....EVEN IF IT'S QUIRKY AND OFFBEAT...IT'S WHAT MAKES THE WORLD INTERESTING!
PEACE AL.
AND WHO KNOWS, I MIGHT EVEN PICK UP A SOUTHERN ACCENT!

Default to Just plain Al and Music Chick....

To the Music Chick and Just Plain Al,

You both sound very cool...down to earth and tolerant, not ready to judge others. Very nice, I appreciate your overall comments. It shows you are more interested in learning about and knowing people than alienating them.

So if I move down there, which I very much possibly might... eeekk...
If you are game, we might have to get together and share something, a beer tea or a meal...and ALL SPEAK IN OUR OWN INDIVIDUAL ACCENTS AND ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF IT!!

For the while, take care and keep up the genuine posts.

Damiana00.

ps. Music chick, I appreciate your post saying you want to be my neighbor, thx! what kind of music do you play/like??

Default how's this street/area?

Just Plain Al or anyone who can help:

how is this street:
32nd and Live Oak..... or the general area?

I am looking/drooling at a house online in that area so I was wondering what people thought of it. the realtor guy I am talking with says it's a low crime area but thought anyone else would have an opinion on it.

thx.
Damiana00
