There are places around Savannah to go crabbing. Somebody will know--not sure about Richmond Hill.

I would love to be crabbing right now. Blue Crab salad after a morning at the beach is my idea of Paradise.

All you need is a dock with public access or a boat. If you don't have a boat, then you need a friend with a dock. Public access docks are usually not the best place as there is too much oil, junk, etc in the water.

Is there a public beach area in RH? If so, that might work too. Crabs can be caught at Tybee, but dragging them up to the beach usually knocks them off the line.

The best places are usually from a boat in about 4-5 feet of water near the edge of the marsh. Close to a little creek is good. The time of the tide is important too. It's been a long time since I went crabbing, but I think we tried to start about three hours before low tide in an area where the flow of water was not too swift.

Good Luck! Fresh crabs that you just caught beat anything out of a restaurant.

I've been here all of about 3 months but love to fish so here is where I think you could crab in RH: piers at Ft McCallister SP, then a little south off I-95 is another fishing pier in Sunberry (sp), GA.

Small floating dock at Demeries Creek (A boat launch and DNR right next door) has people crab from it occasionally. Sunbury has a big public fishing peer.
