Default Eco friendly Savannah?

So the current American trend is the environment. Thats the new "hot topic" and I am wondering where the environment falls in Savannah's priorities.
I am truly curious. Being that it does have a river to protect, and it is somewhat isolated from other cirties pollution, and it does have a smaller city population, it could be on track to be a very clean and conciencious city.
But I know there are some factories along the river, not sure what or how much they dump into the river. And the socio-economics of a population contribute to environmental priorities, as in, it is somewhat expensive to be eco-friendly.
So how is the city on recycling, preserving green spaces, wetland preservation, air pollution, landfills, industry pollution, environmental zoning, ect? Just curious.

The city is set to implement a curb pickup recycling service early next year. People have been clammouring for it for ages. So now it's going to happen.

There's a lot going on here, like in most cities. I could elaborate, but maybe later. Do some reading on your own. I'd recommend following what's in Connect, if you want to keep up.

Here's a partial list of active organizations, businesses, and publications:
