It could extend to include Lakeshore and Rice Hope and Godley Station. The High school does not have a site yet. Bloomingdade may loose its Fine and Performing Arts Academy also.
Bloomingdale may lose it's fine and performing arts? Why is that? Just because of new schools? I definitely see the need for new schools with Pooler expanding so much. The high school definitely needs to be started. I've heard that Groves isn't the greatest and is already full. With all these new communities, the schools will be run by the students

Bloomingdale may lose it's fine and performing arts program because the school is now overcrowded because of growth. It was underpopulated once.
I have 2 there
Groves at least has a IB program and Career Academy, but as long as Savannah Arts Academy exists, that is the High School of Choice, Public or Private and Effingham or Bryan!
I have 2 there

So you have 4 kids? You sound like me. But I only have 2 school aged children right now. I was unaware of the school situation in chatham county when we came here. I've heard nothing but bad things about most of the schools. So Savannah Arts Academy is the way to go with highschool? Although, I doubt I will have to worry about this. We probably won't get one child through middle school. It is good to know what others think about the schools though.

The school situation is not as bad as the hype. we live 2 miles from South Effingham Elementary and could have sent the children there easily, but after research decided that the magnet programs offered more. #1 graduates this year and has been accepted at UGA Honors. "The schools are Better in ....."
is a southern euphemism. "The Arts School is Gay" "there can be no intelligent life west of Bull St." Buy the growth is changing that

Get a good curricula book like what your child needs to know for each grade and become involved in what they are learning or not learning.
Look for IB, Honors, AP, or Gifted Programs. There are good and less good teachers in every school

I agree about schools having good teachers and then mediocre or less as well. I do get involved in what the kids are learning. I like the school they are at. I can only pass on hear say about elementary and high school.

I'd also like to hear about other areas like Brunswick. The good, the bad and the ugly... Thanks.
Many Georgians do look on Savannah and the coast as vacation spots but obviously lots of people do live there as well. I enjoy visiting Savannah and have done so many, many times. Each time was very pleasant. The humidity there in the summer is awful like most of Georgia. It is a well-laid out city with lots of outdoor recreation not far away. If you are not going to live in Atlanta, I would think Savannah would be a good second choice. Have you thought about Athens? I do not know a lot about Brunswick but do you have a friend there who is a teacher and she seems happy with it.
