I grew up in NJ, and have lived in NYC for the past 7 years. I finish grad school in May '09 and will have my Masters of Social Work and am considering relocating to Savannah for a few years following this. Does anyone know what the job market is like for social workers in Savannah? How about salary ranges? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't stand the high cost of living in NYC anymore and am definitely ready for a change! Thanks in advance!

I've been looking in this field as well. It's been almost four months and I therefore do not recommend you coming to Savannah to work in the social work field. There are simply no jobs. Also, unemployment just hit 7%. It's rough.

I know from a coworker who is in HR that DFACS (family services) just laid off a LOT of people, so if that is any indication, the job situation in that field is not good right now. At least not here.

Try looking on socialservice.com, they have hundreds of social work and other social service jobs all over.
