Jekyll Island Photo Video & Tybee Island
I hope you regulars on this forum dont mind me doing a new thread on my adventures but I thought it would be easier for newcomers to this forum to do searches either here or google.
I was about to explore more of Savannah but my camera batteried died.
Silly me when packing told myself oh I will only need the car charger and not the room charger. So I said hey lets go check out Jekyll Island that seems like a cool name.
OMG 95 is crazy with all that road construction and I cant stand construction wall barriers they make me nervous and cause me to get tunnel vision.
I like to be relax traveling lol like anyone would so we took 17 back very nice highway and relaxing.
Jekyll Island reminded me of a wider version of the outer banks of NC really cool and I love how there is few commercial development and the few that was there (hotel chains) was done tastefully.
--------------------------------------------------
In the photos you will see the house that the insides was burned it is the Horton House occupied by Major William Horton during the British colonial period who also brewed beer in Georgia's first brewery.
Also shown is Jekyll Club Hotel once owned by the infamous Vanderbilts who also owned the Biltmore House in Asheville North Carolina.
I was fascinated by all the history on this island and it reminded me of quain peaceful resort. The last photohttp://www.seajays.com/ is where we had dinner
at at Sea Jay's restaurant
I saw the menu and I told the server who was really friendly that I have only had fried oysters and I want to try steam oysters for the first time.
OMG I am hooked now I can travel to Oyster bars etc. I also had brunswick stew since I was in Brunswick and the stew started in the Simon Island area. It was good so much flavor compared to what I have had in NC.
This was first time I saw ranch homes along a island and they all was in good shape or look like they was. I am use to seeing homes on stilts up along the NC coast. I missed the sunset but the glimse I caught was beautiful across the marsh land.
I never have experience this much beauty in Georgia . It amazing how we can get wrap up in our daily lives and take this stuff for granted.

Oh, wow; so much fun! I have du Bignons in my family tree, BTW.
Sorry you didn't stop to see St Simons Island next door...great place, although more developed than Jekyll.
So glad you're having such a great time!

That is interesting .
I can see how Tybee is a hard place to get a vacation spot due to it size is smaller than what I am use to.
I had an experience there that I have never had a beach , yesterday there was absolutely no wind.
I always thought there was ocean wind but yesterday proved other wise.
The food at Tuby's Tank house was good no complaints.
We drove to Hilton Head yesterday and wow that a different type of coastal community that I never seen design like that before.
Im impress with there strict building codes in the way businesses are off set from the road the preservation of nature and how the shops blended in with enviroment.
However I now know why it known from people in my area that I am from why it called a family beach. I could not find anywhere the public could go view the beach but did have interesting time trying to explore this place and wow the houses.

I had the opposite reaction when I visited the beaches outside of Wilmington, NC. They seemed like an endless line of homes with little to differentiate one township from the other. It wasn't till I got to the southern end of the strip that it started feeling more like the beaches I'm familiar with.
I guess we're spoiled. Tybee doesn't seem too crowded in the summer except on the holiday weekends.
Edisto, Folly Beach, and Pawleys Island in SC seem to be a nice compromise between what you know and what we find close to home. They're all worth visiting.
You did an excellent job with your vacation report. Thank you.
