What happened on Abercorn last night?
I was walking to the Publix on Abercorn last night around 9pm, and there was several police cars, ambulances and a ton of people in the area not far from where Derenne and Abercorn meets.
I've looked all over the news, but I can't find anything. It seemed serious as there were so many police cars, at least eight or nine...
Hmm. Just curious.

Sometimes an absurd number of police cars show up for a minor accident or incident. Dunno why, but they do.

Maybe because the accident/incident was in front of a donut shop?
When seconds mean the difference between life and death...
The police are only minutes away.
J/K...
I truly respect the police on my Island.
Even when I get lit up, they're always decent to me.

We were involved in a small fender bender one day, and the usual group of Police cars came. So, I asked "why so many?" I was curious too.
A very nice officer grinned really big and told me. And it makes sense. When they send out the call, they aren't really sure what's going to be needed. So there are always at least the three nearest cars sent.
First one is to direct traffic and keep the gawkers moving on. If it's a big intersection like Abercorn and Derenne with a lot of lanes, they will send two. Too many people want to stop and see what's going on.
Then one other one to get information and another to keep things quiet and control things. Help quiet the children, little things like that and, of course, any emergency first aid until the ambulance comes. He also said that you would be surprised at the number of drivers that get out of their cars looking for revenge! Fights often get out of hand. One policeman can't handle it and sometimes the bystanders get in on it. So three are the minimum needed. If other officers are near by, and it seems to be a problem accident of some sort, they will head over too if they aren't busy.
I started looking at accidents after that. And sure enough, three police cars.
