Thanks everyone for your opinions. I also found they have the grocery store I always shop at here in Florida, Publix.
As for the heat, living in Florida I am used to humid days. Because I don't live on the coast it gets really hot.

Kroger's is the one I shop at.
People are wonderful.
Prices are good.
PUBLIX is more up-scale, and the prices reflect it.
And I don't like the attitude of most of the employees at PUBLIX.
I don't worry about the way I look, I have waaay more important things on my mind.
And they seem to look down on me when I am in there.

Just Plain Al, thanks it will give me an idea what is there.
I do have a question, are there shopping malls on the island? I am looking for bookstores but in the yellow pages all they list are Savannah.

I'm afraid you're overestimating what's on Wilmington. This is not like most of Florida. Maybe it's like middle class sections of Jacksonville, Gainesville, or even Orlando. Think 1970's (more or less) housing and a few strip malls surrounded by marsh and one nice river. It's more of a series of piney subdivisions, a couple of grocery stores, a hardware store, and a few restaurants and bars. Along the Wilmington River and in a few other locations there are nice homes and big yards, but really, most of the island is single family homes built on slabs. It's a large suburb.

I couldn't have said it any better, and I live here on The Island.

I was in the Publix on Whitemarsh and overheard a conversation about that "dangerous slum" built behind the Shopping Center!

Battery Point has become a rather sketchy neighborhood. It never should have been built..but that's what happens when the owner of the development company sat on the MPC at the time!

Technically, that slum is on Whitemarsh. LOL And though it is a little sketchy, seems I know a lot of people who live there. Pretty respectable people. It's an odd neighborhood, to be sure.
