Default Is this area safe?

Hello all.

I am sure everyone is sick of seeing these threads, but I have to ask. I am moving to Savannah ASAP from Ohio, and have found a place online.

Unfortunately, due to $$$ situations, I can't make a trip down there before the actual move date, so I have been trying to get advice on the area.

The place I found is on East Anderson at Live Oak. The landlord said it was safe and clean, but you know how that goes. I don't want to get roped into a lease, but I also do not want to be stuck without a home!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

(Oh and does anyone know where I can find a job, I have a degree in accounting.)

This is one that we don't mind helping.
You did most of the work before you asked for our help.
I'm more familiar with The Islands, but I'm sure our Secret Agent would know the area you are talking about and could give you some advice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. That'd be one less thing to worry about before the big move! I am so excited to get down there!

NO, not safe at all!

Search 31410 & 31419 zip codes, Pooler & Richmond Hill, GA and Effingham Co for "safe" areas.

Also...may I ask why you're moving BEFORE you have a job!!?? I ask because right now, the job situation in Savannah is terrible, especially in "skilled" areas, such as accounting.

That's the thing. I am trying not to move before I secure a job. But also, anyone who is interested in me, wants me to come down for a face to face interview.

That boils down to $$$ again.

But, I am really trying to do anything down there, as long as it pays the rent (not for that house on Anderson, though! :-) )

I figgered that someone would know...

The Islands have quite a few complexes if you're just looking for a place to live. Some are doing the "Free Rent" thing because of the economy.
And some decent rental houses too.

My thoughts zactly.
But sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I want to be in the downtown area, I know for sure. Is the area around Forsyth Park safe, or is it all scary too?

I am looking to share a room with someone too. I have to establish myself before I can get a place all my own!

If money & safety are your concerns, forget about downtown.

Yup...
This ain't downtown N.Y.C. with the prices and the crime.
But this ain't Upper Buttcrack Misery either.
I checked out prices before my move.
And had some friends on this board help me.
I fit right in right where I am.
