Has anyone ever used Barkie Bow Wow's Pet Salon and Kennel? That was the only kennel I found today, after calling 10, that had an opening for this weekend. Doesnt look like they are a vet, and I am kinda nervous about it. I plan to go and check it out tomorrow before I put her there Friday. Just wondering if anyone used them and how they were. Thanks!

Jenn

I'm not really sure how she would do in the house alone. We have a crate for her and crate her when we go out to the store and all. It seems kinda cruel to have her in her crate most of the day, but that's my opinion. Then there's the fact that I HAVE to have my house spotless like noone lives here if someone comes over, lol. Also, I am a little paranoid about having someone come into our house that we dont know. KWIM?

Dr. Marlay on 800 Ash street has kennel service. Small consistent staff and the vet lives on the property. Your dog will be in a small indoor cage at night, and be in an outdoor run during the day. I know the family, have seen them run the business and have full confidence in the place. (and no, I don't work there!)

I know a phenomenal pet sitter that actually DOES spend time with the animals..... She petsits for a ton of my clients at the Landings. She lives on Dutch Island and is very reputable. Very. When she says that she will spend an hour with the pet, she means it. If your dog is at a kennel, most likely they will be in a cage all day. At vet offices they are usually let out twice a day for minutes. I'd go for a pet sitter.

We have used Barkie Bow Wow's on occassion (when our first two choices were full...like holidays) and they are okay. I don't have any real complaints specifically, but we like the atmosphere of our vet's kennel services better as well as a local petsitter. We use West Side Animal Hospital for our kennel needs. They have always done a great job. However, I know a pet sitter who is reputable and who claims to work all over Savannah (although she lives in our neighborhood, so I've never tested the distance she would travel). You can find her at http://www.spot-to-trot.com. Good luck.

I used Barkie Bow Wow once, and was not impressed and have not gone back. They said they couldn't get my dog out of the cage to go on a walk, so he wasn't walked and didn't have an opportunity to do his business. Thankfully it was a one-night stay. Now my dog is a head case, which is why we've had to check out a couple different kennels (having people come into our house while we're gone is also not an option), but I've never had anyone tell me they couldn't get leash on him.

Central is our kennel of choice. It's an old vet office, and basically everyone who works there used to be a vet tech. If you haven't tried them yet, I'd highly recommend them.

Very bad place. Don't send your pet there. My dog shook for two days when he returned. I was quite upset. I'd also recommend in home sitting.
