I realize this is repetitive but...
I am well aware that people are constantly asking the same questions, but I'm going to do it also. Please play along. My husband and I are both RNs and are considering a move to the Savannah area. My hubby is looking at working at Fort Stewart as a civilian. I will be working at Memorial Hospital. We are looking at Richmond Hill, Rincon, and Guyton. What would our commute times be?
We would like a safe neighborhood with lg. fenced yards, sidewalks, good schools. We want something below $220,000, at or above 2000 sq. feet. Wouldn't mind a community with a pool and playground. We have a lab so dogs must be allowed. The biggest issues for us are safety and schools. We don't mind neighbors, but don't want to be on top of them! Thanks so much!
Also if there are any RNs, I would love to hear from you regarding the hospitals/

First -- good luck with the move.
Don't forget to look a little farther west off of 16. You can get into Bulloch County pretty quickly and the schools are very good. The taxes are cheaper and you get more land for your money.
Commute times are always dependent on the time you travel. There are a lot of variables that could make the commute a little slow at times. It's bearable from any of the locations you mentioned....just don't forget to check Bulloch County.

Thank you for your response! According to mapquest.com, it says it's around a 50 minute drive each way to get to Savannah. Is that right? Thanks.

Sounds about right. They're very strict about speed enforcement on Ft. Stewart, so take that into account.

So would Richmond Hill, Rincon, or Guyton be better than anywhere in Bulloch county?

It would be more convenient to live in Richmond Hill if your husband will be working at Ft. Stewart. That's more or less between Memorial and the fort. Rincon and Guyton are pretty far away. As for Bulloch County, you'd be commuting from the opposite side of Ft. Stewart. It's pretty rural out there till you get to Statesboro.
And though I rarely have reason to visit the residential areas in RH, I've heard many are quite pleasant and affordable. Schools in S. Bryan Co. are also reasonably good.

How far is Ft. Stewart from Savannah? Would we be better off actually living in the city? Are there any private schools that don't require a 2nd mortgage to attend?

Just live in Richmond Hill and send your kids to the public school. It's simple.
As far as distance, use mapquest because that's what I would have to do.

Wow. I'm sorry if I pissed you off. I do realize that mapquest is not always reliable and was hoping to get accurate information for a local. Perhaps a nice local. If it angered you that I asked that, just don't respond. No need to get rude and huffy.

I am a nice local.
Takes about 20 min. to get to RH from Memorial depending on your route, if there's no traffic. When you enter Ft. Stewart it seems that you have to drive forever before you get to where everyone works and lives. Never timed it, though.
