Default What To Do in Savannah

Greg, not sure if I should have put in this forum or the Savannah sub forum...

Planning to head to Savannah from Oct 15-19 with my girlfriend for our anniversary.

I wanna visit Tybee Island, Hilton Head, SC and the Riverfront but other than that, I have no idea what else to do .

Any suggestions on restaurants and other activities? How long is the drive time from the airport (I'm going to leave from work and head straight to Savannah in the morning, 8ish to 9ish). I'm assuming about 3 hours or so?? Seems to be about that...

Thanks guys

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but my wife and I are also heading down there for the first time (next weekend, arriving Friday night and leaving Sunday afternoon).

We want to check out the Wormsloe Plantation for its beautiful live oak trees and Bonaventure Cemetery for sure, but otherwise we're mostly just going to take it easy and see what we can see. Maybe visit a beach on Hilton Head.

I think we're also going to do one of the ghost tours (Oglethorpe has one where you can apparently get out and explore the "Candler Hospital Morgue/Tunnel"), and maybe a riverboat.

Any advice about recommended tours (ghost or otherwise) would be appreciated; there are so many different tour companies that it gets a bit confusing.

Other than the fact I see no point in going to HHI, you all are right on target. Beaufort, SC would be more interesting than getting wrapped up in that mess.

Oh, and the drive to Savannah (from the Atlanta airport?) is probably closer to 4 hrs.
