Smile Info on Pooler

Several questions: While looking on Google maps I see what looks like railroad tracks going through Pooler!! Or is that some sort of public transportation?? Is it a good place to retire? My husband and I are in our late 60's, in good health and love outdoor activities such as biking, tennis, swimming, etc. Are there some new home subdivisions for us? About 10 years ago we left the Charleston, SC to move to AZ, but now want to return.......we really miss the water!! All comments would be appreciated. Thank you very much!!!

I am in your age group and my husband and I hope to move down there to be near our youngest child who lives in Pooler. I don't know what your price range is, but my opinion is that while Pooler is a nice area, I personally do not want any part of an HOA or a cookie cutter neighborhood. That's OK when you are just starting out, but not when you have some history under your belt. My son and DIL are thrilled with their house in a new subdivision and when I was their age I would have been too.
We like the amenities, mature landscaping and the atmosphere in Richmond Hill, but the more we visit, the more we think we want a quirky little place on the islands.
