We might be of help to you. We are looking at moving back north next yr. We live on Wilmington Island (10 minutes from Tybee Island & 10 minutes from downtown Savannah). Wilmington Island is a place that a lot of people try to live in as it is such a nice area. Crime is not a problem in our area as in some other areas of Savannah. We will be selling our house (3 bedrm/2 1/2 baths, master/main floor)ourselves. Ft Gordon would probably be about 2 1/2 hrs from Savannah. There is always a need for people in the medical field here in Savannah - I know several people that work at one of our local hospitals that might be able to give you some in site into a job if you are interested.

I would suggest contacting the Savannah Technical College and Armstrong Atlantic State University. I believe they both have medial programs and would have insights on work potential and areas within the city you might enjoy. The downtown has a big contengency of art students from the Savannah College of Art and Design, but rent is held higher because of it. That said you can find an apartment in the downtown for under $700. If you're looking for a cheap house, the areas of Effingham County (Springfield, Guyton, Rincon) have really good buys for more house, but think small town rural if you consider that direction. I agree with Wilmington Island or Whitmarsh Island as strong potentials.

hi, i'm thinking of moving to savannah sometime next year. how is the area of the southside specificaly shawnee st. and middleground road. this is the area in which i would like to move to when the time come. thanks in advance.
