Default 56th/abercorn ardsley park nice area?

I'm currently living on Maui, HI it has gotten way out of hand in terms of affordability. so I got on the computer and started seeking warm areas with some charm to relocate to. Savannah popped up and I have fallen in love! (at least on paper). regardless, I purchesed a house sight unseen in ardsley park on 56th near abercorn for about 25% of what homes cost here!.

I would love some input from anyone who has knowledge of the area. I've read all the data about the crime which is concerning but not a deal breaker. My realtor ofcoarce is going to tell me what I want to hear so I would appriciate on honest opinion.

From google map it seems to be a well kept neighborhood. are neighbours friendly? how 'bout bug? ect....
Aloha and Mahalos,
Gil

I used to live in that exact area and you will definitely appreciate the close access to town, the mall, and the beaches. The number of thefts are pretty high. I had an instance when I left my purse in my car for five minutes at Ardsley Park, and my window was smashed and my purse gone. My fault as well, but just be very aware of your surroundings. You will definitely enjoy Ardsley Park, it's a great location, and right off of Abercorn on 56th St. is one of the better areas.

Thanks for the humble inputs...
gapowermike,......... I should of stated, sight unseen but very well investigated...paid almost 20% less than asking price and paid cash so there is no worry of "bank courtesy calls". I'll be moving there no job, no money and not socialy connected...so I had to get locked in on a home purchuse before arriving so I don't get irresponsible and mint tulip it all away!~....The house also has an apt over the garage for much needed income which I was not able to find even one at the time I bought this place. so it's a blind faith type of deal but I get a good feeling of savannah and I will be visiting on thanksgiving and moving there in june....
